How does wireless compare to a Dialup Connection?
Dialup connections operate at a maximum speed of 53 kbps under ideal conditions.
The average dialup connection is about 40 kbps. With 4fast.net's
wireless your maximum speed will be much faster -- up to 512 kbps. And
if you have a second phone line just for Internet service, you will no
longer need it and you will save on your monthly phone bill.
-
How does Wireless DSL compare to traditional DSL?
Since DSL is not available in Yreka, we must rely on knowledge
from other areas. From other ISPs we hear that DSL has more limited availability
than wireless because of lack of phone network infrastructure. DSL
is asymmetric (fast download, slower upload). In addition, the
speed is dependent on
distance from the phone switch.

What equipment is required?
You purchase the equipment and can install it yourself, or we can
install it. You need a single computer with a network
card (NIC). If you don't
have
a NIC, we
can install one for
you for an additional fee. If you want to connect more than
one computer, you will need a local area network (LAN). We sell
and install LANs.
